Here is a song (video) off of our 2000 release, Rob Oswin – The Hard Way called Northern Lights. As far as RAW Boswin tracks go, this is a classic.
Northern Lights is an original song inspired by a local book project called Coal Miners’ Grins. It reflects on Northern Alberta living in the Lake Wabamun and Lac Ste. Anne region. Dedicated to all the hardworking folks mining for coal to keep our Northern cities glowing. Stock footage is all public domain.

Dedicated to Chelsea, Jake and the Anderson Family, and the Captain and crew of the Northwestern. Stock footage is all public domain. With some gentle prodding and a friendly shove, RAW Boswin and the Gonnabees have finally released their second CD. This is the first commercial release by Rob since 2000.
I was hesitant to release another disc with the uncertain future of the New Music Business, but I have finally given in. This CD is the first of a series of CD’s that I am planning to release ASAP. I have been busy recording music for 11 years since “The Hard Way” was released and it is time to get rid of my backlog of material.
The new disc, “Red Sky” has some really great musicians playing on it including Sandy Switzer, Mike B King, Ronnie Dyck, Ron Casat, Danny Patton, Darryl Britton, and Ross Watson.
The songs are emotional and true to the RAW Boswin sound created on the 2000 release, The Hard Way.
RAW Boswin, Yep! That’s Right! Ever since I can remember, I have thought of my music as a team effort. Although I am the feedstock and catalyst sytem, I still need a lot of help to make my music. That is why I have always wanted to front my music as RAW Boswin. I feel the music is more an result of an entity, rather than an individual.
I had a buddy, still do (Terry Cooke), who always came to my rescue if someone was trying to put me down. I was always a little bit of an entertainer, and was the brunt of a few practical jokes, One day somebody wrote some graffiti in Center Wing at Ross Shepard Composite High School to the effect of:
R _ _ OSWIN
is a
_ _ CKFACE
To which Terry took notice of and reached for his red felt pen. Without missing a step he reached towards the wall and finished the graffiti…

We all roared with laughter and from that day forward, I became known as Kickface. I did not begin using the “RAH” until I became more serious about my music, and once I did I figured “RAW” was better descriptor than “RAH”. I was RAW Boswin from 1988 until 2000 when I released “The Hard Way”. I had actually prepared all of the CD artwork using my pseudonym when I was talked out of it at the very last minute, You should always trust your first instinct when it come to things that really don’t matter that much…
Oh well, I guess that will make the first run of “Rob Oswin – The Hard Way” a collector’s item….
